Turkish Pizza @ Babaji :Review

Babaji, a casual dining Turkish restaurant with PIDE at the heart of the menu has opened its first venue outside London at City Walk 2, Dubai. From interiors, food and to the smallest details Babaji has impressed me a lot. After taking the British capitol by storm i can surely see the same happening in Dubai as well as it was slowly getting packed on a week day!

PIDE (pronounced PEE-DEH) – is a boat-shaped flat bread with a variety of toppings that may include ground lamb, or beef; with lashings of butter and cheese.

The gigantic restaurant was designed beautifully, it looked nothing but rich and gorgeous. Traditional Turkish details like surfaces, textiles and patterns were used to bring out the Turkish feel to it.

They have a brick oven on one side of the restaurant where you can see the chefs baking PIDE:flat breads, and a live station for kunafa. Once i was done with admiring the ambience i was handed in the menu which offered a variety of classic mezzes, soups, flat breads and grills..

MY ORDER

It started off with a complimentary basket of bread.

Along side came in the mezzes that i ordered. Hummus and Tabouleh both equally delicious and went well with the complimentary bread.

PIDe

Pide Develi– Diced beef, parsley, turkish green pepper and tomatoes. This turkish style pizza was so well baked leaving rich flavors in it. Its their specialty so make sure to give PIDES a try.

Mocktail

Quiet Storm, a thirst quencher drink! Passion fruit, lime, lychee juice and coconut. Yet again do try the Turkish mocktails here at Babaji

main Course

So here is the main course! I opted for Topaki Chicken which was stuffed with Turkish rice and it came along with a spicy tomato gravy that uplifted the whole dish with its spices and flavor! Utterly delicious and a must to try!

Second one was Lamb Kofte, somewhere felt it needed a saucy gravy as well to make the entire dish moist. In flavors, it was good but definitely not the best when compared to Topaki Chicken!

Desserts

Hands down this is the best Kunafa i have ever eaten anywhere in dubai! The sweet shredded pastry was perfectly prepared leaving the crunchiness and sweetness to the right level. Outstanding!

My favorite dessert of all time Bakhlava!! I was so happy to see in on the menu here and without any hesitation i opted for this one as well. Umm yum soo amazingly delicious! In short guys you dont want to miss out these two desserts!

Overall my eating experience at Babaji went really well. The service was quick and the staff was friendly too. I did feel that the serving portions were small when compared to the prices..
